Louis & William's Page

Contestant: Louis Abronson

William and Louis were a father/son team that competed against another father/son team, Garrett & Rett Bergmark.

William and Louis did well until the Grand Prize play where Louis suffered a crushing defeat, missing the Score to Beat by 200 points - with points being added to his score as the clock ran out. Looking back on the experience, Louis says, "the prize (Grand Prize) we played for was Marvin's Maze, which I will never forget failing to win by a split second : (memories mellow with age)."

At the time, the entire STARCADE! crew felt badly about the outcome but ... rules are rules.

Louis was 11 years old and in the 6th grade in December 1983 and described himself as "an avid video game player ... let me play a lazer disc (game) and I'll beat you almost every time. My high score on Dragon's Lair is 371,522."

According to Louis, "originally it was my Grandmother who got me on STARCADE! She had been promising to get me on a game show since I was seven. She got the application for me for STARCADE! and here I am."

William, Louis' Dad, was an attorney who didn't really want to be a contestant but agreed "only if it is the only way my son can be on." Since we were casting a father/son team, it was so he did.

Interesting to note that Rett Bergmark, the 16-year who competed with his Dad against the Abronson also became an attorney. Click here to check out his page.
Louis checked in to tell us, "Since then (his STARCADE! taping), I graduated high school, went on to N.Y.U. Tisch school of the Arts to study acting, fell in love, graduated, married, went to Law School at U.C. Davis, had a son while there. Graduated in 1997 first in my class, spent a year clerking for the Alaska Supreme Court in Anchorage, moved to Seattle for a short time, then back to Northern California, divorced, founded a law firm in partnership with two other attorneys called Kurtzman, Koller, and Abronson (This was in December of last year), and have been working on building that since then."

"I heard about this website from, of all people, my ex-wife, who I am still on good terms with."

"Being on the show has become quite the happy memory."

"Hope all is well with the staff that was running it when I was on - good wishes to them."
