Contestants: Jean & David Andrews

David found out about STARCADE! tryouts while watching the show. In his contestant application he said he wanted to be on STARCADE! to win 'some little prizes.' That turned out to be quite an understatement ... with David and his Mom pretty much taking every prize we offered ... and coming back for a second show to collect an RB5X Robot.

David's interest were "electronic games and bicycle motor-cross" ... he wanted to see "how I can do with video games under a little pressure."

Games on Show #61
Galaga, Q*Bert, Time Pilot, Congo Bongo and Graplop. Grand Prize:Tron
Games on Show #68
Zoar, Guzzler, Time Pilot, Super Zaxxon, and Super Pac Man. Grand Prize: RB5X Robot

David was 17 years old when his STARCADE! show was taped in July 1983. David's Dad was an Air Force Chaplain (a Major) so David had traveled all over the US and Europe. In 1983 he was in San Antonio, Texas.

David's Mom Jean got drafted to be his partner and was a great sport about it ... backing David all the way to the winner's circle ... twice.

David's favorite games were Q*Bert, Super Zaxxon, and Time Pilot ... and he was 'a total Star Wars lover.'

David's Sign Shop

Check out David's website at: www.eclipsesigns.com/.  Maybe you'll see a sign you cannot live without.

And yes, we're talking to David about some STARCADE! stuff.

David checked in to tell us, "After high school, I did just about everything under the sun for 7 years ... then I got married ... went to the FSU School of Motion Picture Production (the Film School) ... worked on a sad, short lived show called 'US Customs: Classified' ... had a part as an extra in two episodes ... got bite by a coral snake ... had some other medical things happen to me ... and today I own a small sign and wide format digital print shop where I make fun novelty signs (like parking for Doberman Fans only or parking for Harry Potter fans only). Right now I'm in a poster run for Ripley's Believe It or Not, promoting their search for America's Most Unbelievable Pet. " Whew!' David, you're making us tired ... it obviously hasn't been boring ...

Today David is an avid Starcader! When he checked in, he said, "Maybe someday if you can find enough of us we can have a STARCADE! Contestants Reunion and get a bunch of us together."  Funny, we had the same thought and we're working on it. David is doing his part, he's lending his support to an online petition to bring the show back -- STARCADE! 2000 -- on G4's STARCADE! Forum.  You might want to check it out. Go to: http://www.g4media/starcade and look for the 'Petition for a new Starcade!!!' link.
